why can i only fall sleep during the day?

Improve sleep hygien: Could be many things like insufficient sleep, delayed sleep phase syndrome, drug side  effects, rotating work schedule, sleep interruption, depression, chronic pain etc.  Try improving the sleep hygiene, same sleep wake cycle, no daytime sleeping, regular exercise, limiting caffeine intake. If still has problem them get more help from our doc to look into other causes.

i don't sleep during the night i do during the day but lately i can't do that so i sleep where ever i fall what should i do?

Reset your cycle: Choose a day when you have fewer responsibilities and stay up all day until you are sleepy in the evening.  Get in the sunlight during the day.  Turn down lights and avoid screens in the evening.  Do not take caffeine after 12 noon.  Do calming and relaxing things in the evening-aromatherapy, soft music, guided imagery, self hypnosis, massage, etc.  Good luck!

See answer: Early awakening with difficulty falling back to sleep is a sign of depression. Difficulty falling asleep at bedtime is often due to excessive worrying over unresolved problems, real or imagined. Checklists on HT give advice

Yes: If you exercise during the day . Exercising late at night can actually keep you awake do watch for that!

Sleep quality is: important.  One POSSIBILITY is sleep apnea.  If you have that you will be waking up throughout the night and not knowing it and not getting enough REM (dream) sleep.  Please see your doctor.  You may also be depressed and a mental health professional can help if that is the case.  Peace and good health.

Not normal: You are alternating between sleep deprivation and hyper somnolence . You have a seizure disorder. I recommend you see a neurologist who specializes also in sleep medicine to sort out these issues.

Exercise/nutrition: Proper exercise and nutrition are critical in terms of your sleep cycle and sleep in general.  Timing for eating and exercise are also critical.  You may have to use trial and error to help you determine what is best for you.

Yes: When you have sleep apnea, you are not getting restful sleep. Your sleep is very fragmented because the brain is.
