Whitening teeth: can be done safely in a dentist's office.  There are different toothpaste and mouth rinse in the store that are available but the whiteness expected cannot be achieved similar to what is recommended. Some tried home whitening, e.g. using baking soda and peroxide, but be very careful. I had seen an  patient who whitened his teeth at home but the gum tissue was sloughing , painful, and raw.

Change toothpaste: You may have some adverse reaction to certain ingredient in that whitening tooth paste.  Just use the regular toothpaste since they are better and cheaper anyway.  Whitening toothpaste may contain abrasives that wear down your enamel.

I suggest you use the toothpaste and toothbrush as it was intended, which is inside your mouth and on your actual teeth. The burns from the toothpaste ingredients will heal on their own Do not further irritate your skin.
