Exam, Laser?: First, it is important to have your black spots checked to make sure it is normal and just a cluster of pigments. People with darker skins (genetically, not from tanning) often have darker spots on the gums. However it is best to get them checked. If they are normal pigmentations, but you want them lighter, laser treatment may help. Ask a dentist who is trained in laser treatment.

Dark Spot: Without knowing the exact location of the "dark spot", the condition of the surrounding teeth, the periodontal status of those teeth, and your social habits like smoking, it is hard to say exactly what that lesion is. If it has been more than two weeks since it has appeared and it has not resolved, please see a local dentist for evaluation. No pain does not mean no treatment needed.

Could be: Could be mucocele, caused by partially blocked salivary gland duct, or a draining abscess! An infection.  Othor possibilities but these are the most probable.  Please we your Dentist or an Oral Surgeon for examination, differential diagnosis, and appropriate treatment.
