Exam, Laser?: First, it is important to have your black spots checked to make sure it is normal and just a cluster of pigments. People with darker skins (genetically, not from tanning) often have darker spots on the gums. However it is best to get them checked. If they are normal pigmentations, but you want them lighter, laser treatment may help. Ask a dentist who is trained in laser treatment.

Spot: Has it always been there? If you are not sure, ask your dentist, he/she may have seen it previously and in the absence of change we just monitor it.. If you are seriously concerned go to an oral surgeon , as they will generally see the most pathology and they can guide you on whether a biopsy may be necessary,, but back to my first question, has it always been there? if so , less worrisome

See a dentist: Some conditions may require further assessment, tests and your dentist may book a follow-up appointment or refer you to a specialist to determine a diagnosis. Take care.
