After a proper exam and diagnosis of your condition, the normal rout to treat gum disease is root planing and periodontal maintenance every 3 to 4 months depending you condition and home care. Even with treatment, it is an uphill battle. Find a way to see a dentist or periodontist for help!

: Sounds like you may have gum recession, root exposure, and that area (which is not supposed to be exposed to oral fluids) has lost its protective cementum covering. Now dentinal tubules, with direct access to pulp chamber, is now exposed. May need restoration. Desensitizing toothpaste may help. May be time to see a specialist Periodontist

A spontaneous dark area on the gum, or a dark spot after dental work which does not go away within a few weeks should be investigated by a doctor.  RARELY, melanoma or other cancers can appear this way.
