Mucous?: Your intestine produces its own secretions to lubricate and protect. Unless you are eating something with non digestible white pieces, it may be mucous. Best not to over analyze the appearance of your stools.

Possible ingestion.: It sounds like either pieces of partially digested food, if there was something white he/she ate...or possibly a foreign body that he/she ingested. It is possible that they are pieces of medication. You should call your doctor to see if he/she needs to be checked. Also, look around the house for white substances and open pill bottles and let your doctor know about those also.

there are some dark brown almost black, hard as a rock (pebble like) small pieces  in my stool for a month. what is my problem please?

Diverticulosis: Ask your physician on your next visit whether it is worth 'scoping you to look for diverticular disease. It is not especially treatable. The diverticula catch stool, and it hardens in the pouches until it escapes.

Pieces in stool: Could be undigested food. Corn peanuts carrots beans are hard to digest.  This does occur from time to time. If occurring all the time , associated with other changes like diarrhea/ constipation, dark stools, abdominal pain   discuss with gastroentrologist

Irritable bowel: Undigested pieces of food in the stool may indicate fast-transit through the intestines (as typical in certain types of ibs), or the need to chew foods more thoroughly, or foods that may be more resistant to easy-digestion (eg,  high-fiber or fibrous foods). If an GI doc is following your ibs, ensure that he/she is aware.

Could be tomato skin: Tomato skins, even cooked, are usually not digested and may be excreted in the stool. If you have any doubt you may ask your doctor for FIT test that tests for blood in stool, originating the colon.

Bloody stool: If you have a lot of bloody stool, go to the emergency room. I remember a young lady coming into the emergency room with a concern for rectal bleeding; she was very anxious. Immediately after she found out that the rectal examination showed no blood she reported it was likely red pepper.

Bowel: Loose stools although not described as diarrhea can by a sign of infection if these symptoms are new.  Other causes for loose stools would be processes that decrease transit time such as stimulant (excess coffe, tea or caffeinated soda) or hyperthyroidism. Irritable bowel syndrome would be a likely problem too.

White specks -stool: I can’t diagnose the reason for the white spots in your stool. Possible causes can be increased mucus in the stool because of irritation of the gastrointestinal tract or infections.  Some foods can cause this. A gallstone when passed could have this coloration.
