Canker sore?: The most common sore is a canker sore. They are painful but go away in a week. If the sore is painless then you should have it checked.

Swollen Gum lime: If your gum is swollen It could be a number of things. It could be something serious like an abscess, or it could be something as simple as food impaction around your teeth. This is not something to take lightly because if it is an abscess, it could become life threatening. I would recommend you go see your dentist and determine what is causing this swelling.

Not sure of your ?: Although it is obvious that you have at least one serious dental problem that requires treatment. You will need to see a local dentist for an exam, x-rays, diagnosis and treatment. We can't treat you over the internet. Untreated dental problems will lead to pain, infection and tooth loss.

Ask your Dentist: All tarter above and below gum line should be removed.  Roots of teeth should be glass smooth and gum tissues inflammation free.  If you are unsure as to the efficacy of the treatment you received discuss your concerns with your Dentist, of seek a second opinion.

hi. i have mild gum recession. i've been angling the brush at 45 degrees along the gum line and flossing, but i can still scrape away a little plaque along the gum line after i brush. this whole process takes 30-45 min? suggestions?

Oral hygiene: Your gum recession may be from over brushing. You should be gently brushing 2-3 times/day w a soft-bristled t'brush, and flossing at least once a day. That should take you about 3-4 minutes to brush-floss. Plaque is soft, it should come off easily. Tarter is hard, and needs to be removed by a Dentist. Please see your Dentist now to review your oral hygiene regimen.

Yes: Sounds like a cervical cavity, at a minimum stained enamel or cementum. Could even be calculus. Impossible to tell without visualization, that's why it's important you call your dentist for an appointment.

Get it checked out: Given your prolonged history of dipping and new onset lesions along the gum line, it would be important to have your mouth examined by a physician in order to determine if further workup and/or biopsy is required.

Taste/discoloration: You may have a localized gum infection, or a collection of tarter under your gum margins. Bridges require more scrupulous cleaning than just a few passes with a toothbrush. Return to your Dentist for an examination to determine the cause of your signs and symptoms, and then administration of the appropriate treatment. The sooner you see your Dentist, the sooner your problem can bed resolved.
