Accepted Answer

Mono: Typically it takes months for your spleen to recover from the acute infection. Normally, any individual diagnosed with acute infectious mono is instructed to stay out of school and any and all physical activity for the nest 3 months. You are at risk for spleen rupture with even mild contact. Conservatively, It will not be safe for you to resume playing sport until late December 2014.

Absolutely...: One of the great things about contact lenses is the freedom they  give you when playing sports.  They can also improve your performance depending on what kind and how great your refractive error.  Remember though, glasses do offer protection, especially in racket sports and other sports where there might be contact with flying objects, fingers, etc.  Do not forget to wear eye protection as needed.

1: There is no known contraindication to playing contact sports the day prior to a screening colonoscopy.  For a diagnostic colonoscopy, it would be wise to understand the need for the test, i.e. Is it for abdominal pain, irregular bowel habits, bleeding, etc?

Yes: I think so- as long as you continue to follow your doctor's recommendation on the management of your kidney disease. If that is declined due to dehydration, then you should make sure that you hydrate your self well-especially with your active lifestyle. If that is due to your high blood pressure or diabetes- you need to make sure you follow up your doctor;s recommendation on that issue.

4-6 weeks: 3-4 weeks assuming that nothing else was done. I would put no specific restrictions on you but would allow you to return to sports when you have full range of motion and no pain. Good luck

Back pain in young: Young patients rarely need further evaluation for back pain as it is usually self-limiting. For mild symptoms, muscle pains are most common. Consider also disc herniation which may cause pain without sciatica. Stress fracture occurs in 5% of the population without any symptoms. If symptoms persist, then see your doc for a more specific evaluation.
