feel 6,7 times 8 yrs ago hard on wrists went mri found inflamation/fluid in tendons & around bone, sm gang cyst. ortho concluded to ra?? hard to believe. made appt w/ra nx mth, but not satisfied w/answer. could itb tendonitis? says falls not d cause?

: If orthopedist does not think you have trauma related joint problem you should trust him. Just patiently wait for the rheumatology clinic you will have the answer, it is not hard to diagnose RA by exam and serology tests. Take care.

Tendonitis: Tendonitis of the wrist can usually be treated conservatively with the following:  1)  decreasing volume and intensity of activities involving the wrist 2)  wearing a protective splint 3)  initiating physical therapy or directed exercises for rehabilitation 4) taking anti-inflammatory medications.  Tendon rupture would be a rare occurrence in this setting.  All the best!

Rheumatologist: I recommend an evaluation by a rheumatologist for diagnosis and treatment.  People who have taken fluoroquinalone antibiotics like ciprofloxacin or levaquin have had problems with tendonitis and Achilles rupture.

Yes: Tendonitis can either be associated with an underlying break or symptoms of what is presumed to be tendonitis may actually be those of a un-recognized fracture. Likewise for ligament sprains. So if there are unresolved symptoms a plain x-ray, at the very least, is called for.

i have sharp pain when i bend my wrist or push on it. it hurts to write and type. i've had tendonitis before but have no reason to have it now. help?

Without an exam: It's not possible to diagnose the problem. You could have a nerve issue, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis or other overuse injury. Perhaps inflammation due to recent illness, or even autoimmune arthritis (which is rare in your age group but not unheard of). The best thing to do is see your family doctor, pediatrician or sports medicine and get diagnosis, so you can figure out treatment.

Possibly endocrine: Calcific Tendonitis of the shoulders is more typically seen in a person &gt; 50 years old. Under the age of 50 I would consider checking for a condition called hyperparathyroidism by checking a blood calcium level.  In addition, certain kidney conditions are associated with Calcific Tendonitis but usually the person is on dialysis due to kidney failure.

It can be: If your in a alot of pain I would call back the office and tell them you are.....I never turn down a patient in pain or with an infection....
