Yes: It is best to remove contact lens when administering glaucoma eye drops.  Also contact lens may be more difficult to use after glaucoma trabeculectomy surgery.

Yes: Glaucoma, when detected early, can be treated to avoid loss of vision and blindness in most patients. See a glaucoma specialist who can review many options (drops, lasers, stents, intraocular surgery if needed, pills by mouth) and review his intraocular eye pressure history, visual fields and optic nerve to be sure he truly has glaucoma.

Separate problems: The glaucoma and ocular herpes are entirely different from one another. Acyclovir for herpes will not be permanent; usually 7-10 days treatment is sufficient. Glaucoma treatment will need to continue for life to prevent serious eye damage that can lead to blindness.

Treatment: will help control IOP in early glaucoma and delay optic nerve damage. You ophtamologist could decide if surgical intervention will be beneficial for the epiretinal membrane

i have open angle glaucoma and my consultant has recently changed my eye drops to cosopt & lumigan.  since starting these i have been suffering from mild headaches and nausea.  how long should it take my body to adjust to this new medication.

Glaucoma : Cosopt contains the drugs dorzolamide and timolol.  Timolol is a Beta blocker class and dorzolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibor. Timolol effects the muscles that pull on your iris and the dorzolamide decreases fluid in the eye. Lumigan is a prostaglandin analog that increases aqueous flow.  All three medications have eye or headache pain in 3 to 10 %  of people taking as adverse reaction.

There is none: For someone with absolutely no eye problems, normal pressure is thought to be between 6 and 21, but if you are suspected to have glaucoma, there is no normal. That's because everyone's optic nerves have different threshholds at what point pressure damages their eyes. Some live at 25 their whole lives with no glaucoma; others have very bad glaucoma at pressures of 12. Everyone's different.
