if a person was drinking alcohol say beer every day after a days work.if alcohol was causing liver damage the ggt would be elevated right?and if ggt was normal on lab work while drinking alcohol every day that would mean alcohol is not doing damage?

: Alcohol injury of the liver is complicated. During the early injury phases, enzymes such as GGT and ALT elevate as cells are destroyed. After a certain intensity of cirrhosis has been reached, then the enzymes are not reflective of injury. Now, failing protein fabrication functions of the liver manifests as an abnormal Pro-time &amp; as coagulation proteins fail &amp; pro-time elevates.

pancreas concerns, luq pain front to back unchanged for 1.5 yr now, worse with alcohol, labs, chest xray, u/s normal. yellow stool when drinking alcohol along with pain. no history of acute panc..thoughts?

Yellow stool: Sounds like you are on the right path. Follow up with cat of pancreas and gall bladder. Follow with GI specialist . May need to measure pancreatic duct pressure.

Duh... No : Alcohol can raise blood pressure. High BP can stress your heart. The most common reason for a 22 yo to have a BP problem is fibromuscular dysplasia. Next is a pheo or thyroid disease. Alcohol can cause problems with both . It is also a diuretic.....Usually this is not a problem in a young person. Something is up though...... See a doctor.

Could be: Alcohol carries a high glycemic burden.  Lots of calories come in easily when drinking. If one stops alcohol, replaces these beverages with non caloric ones, and otherwise consumes the same diet, weight loss will naturally follow.

See/read all below: Most folks drink to get a temporary high/kick from alcohol.But you have to be able to control the amount of alcohol you drink in order to separate the 'good"from the bad. Which is a long list of damagting effects to your organs in case you drink more than 1or 2 drinks/ day.
Liver damage is common after &gt;2 drinks daily or binging weekly.Brain is ruined after some years and cancer is next killer to.

Yes: Chronic alcohol ingestion can induce production of hepatic microsomal enzymes.  Depending on the amount, frequency and length of your alcohol intake, there may be hepatic injury, cirrhosis bleeding diasthesis, and withdrawal symptoms, such as delirium tremens.

does magnesium level in the body fluctuate all throughout the day? my magnesium was one point under the low end of the range due to drinking alcohol and poor diet. can eating the right foods get it back in normal range?

: Magnesium fluxes in and out of cells and bones and may have to have better evaluation to determine if total body amount is okay, rather than depending on the value in the blood alone. Eating right and eating food with high magnesium content should help and there is also the option of taking tablets for quick corrrection when it is very low. Alcohol is empty calories that is bad for brain and liver

happens rarely every few months after drinking alcohol. wake up & my head feels super super hot. try to walk and can't, as head feels super hot - still conscious however. will crawl to bathroom. after 20 mins, back to normal. any thoughts? thanks?

: Alcohol is a poison that never did anybody any good, ever, so stay away from it. It will destroy your brain cells, damage testicular cells that make testosterone, facilitate development of cancer in many organs, cause hepatitis, cirrhosis and pancreatitis etc. There is no safe level of alcohol intake. Quit while you are ahead.
