i have a fibroid on the posterior exterior uterine wall. is this why i have to push up on my peritoneum to have a bowel movement?

Uterine fibroid: Possibly a contributing factor depending on its location on the exterior wall.  Also if you have had children and are  perimenopausal/menopausal there is less tone in the perineal muscles  and there may be a mild rectocele prolapse ( rectal tissue pushes vagina) so stool gets stuck. Consider  trying Kegel exercises to strengthen the perineal muscles. Discuss rectocele with gyn.

Can get very large!: Fibroids can vary as to how many form and how big they can grow.  These factors are dependent mostly on genetic factors.  I have seen them form as large as a basketball in women in their 20s, or only be an inch or so by their 40s.  Depending on the size and location, they may not cause any symptoms, or can cause heavier bleeding, pelvic pain, feelings of pressure, or limited bladder capacity.

can a very large subserosal uterine fibroid cause dvt?

Unlikely, but...: That scenario would be very unusual, but if the fibroid happened to be very large and  push on a deep pelvic vein (iliac),  it could cause stagnant flow within the vein. Stagnant venous flow is a risk factor for dvt. Diagnosis would be via ultrasound with doppler and/or ct of the pelvis with contrast.

No: A 6 cm fibroid can be removed with surgery.

Yes: But risk of miscarriage is high. You may need to have the fibroid surgery before conception. Didcuds with your doctor.

Any: But usually those &gt;4cm likely to be symptomatic.  Any fibroid that is dying (necrosis) can cause severe pains.  Doctors always should consider other causes, though, because the more common symptom of a fibroid is bleeding--not pain.

Depends: Fibroids can be from 1 inch to 8 inches, however the symptoms of the fibroid are more important.  Does it cause significant bleedign or pain. Also, is it growing rapidly?
Generally, 80% of fibroids do not need to be treated.

Yes: Large fibroids are the most likely cause if you already have been diagnosed. Other causes are gall bladder disease, kidney stones and intestinal issues.

: You need a Gyn exam to determine if any thing needs to be done. There must be a reason why this test was done. So pl follow advice of ordering MD or Gyn

6 cm fibroid: In order to answer this for you, an exam and consult with gyn surgeon is needed. On average a 6 cm uterine fibroid can be surgically removed or coiled via artery supply to allow for pregnancy. If fertility is no longer desired then observation is fine, as long as you are not symptomatic. Take a friend/family with you to consult to help in asking questions. Good luck and be well.
