Varied symptoms: Your symptoms may not be all interrelated. Upper back and neck discomfort with associated hand and arm numbness and weakness may well be due to nerve root impingement from a bulging or herniated intervertebral disc at the neck level. Fever and sore throat may be from a viral or strep infection. A rapid strep culture is advisable. The disc like symptoms are diagnosed by an mri of the spine(neck).
