Depends: Depends on how extensive the detachment was and what kind of procedure was done, especially if gas or silicone oil was used and you have to position a certain way (such as face down). Ask your retina specialist.

Peripheral vision: A patient with a detached retina will be aware of a gradual loss of peripheral vision in one eye, often described as a "curtain" coming across the edges of the visual field. This is an urgent problem which should be checked asap, and usually repaired in a short time frame. Fortunately, most retinal detachments can be successfully reattached by a vitreo-retinal surgeon, often with return of vision.

Yes: This depends on the reasons for the detachment.  For example healthy people with traumatic detachment will likely heal back to normal.   Long time diabetics or those with hypertension might be more likely to detach again and have less than 100% vision.

Yes: The most common retinal detachment caused by pulling of the vitreous on the retina is nicely treated either by vitreous traction removal or an encircling band around the retina in roughly 85% of the cases if dealt with before the area of central vision is threatened by the detachment. In detachments from other causes, the prognosis has to be offered by the retinal consultant.

This is an urgent and dangerous condition which if uncorrected will usually lead to total detachment and loss of all vision.  I am guessing you have already had this diagnosis made by an eye doctor.  Ask him for help or find a retinal specialist immediately.

Choices: do nothing (if macula is detached and non-seeing eye),  laser barricade,  pneumatic retinopexy, scleral buckle, vitrectomy and endolaser.

Blinding: Vitreous detachment from the retina causes floaters ; traction on the retina causes retinal tears with flashes in vision.  Patients with high myopia, family history or history in their other eye are more likely to develop tears and detachment, probably 10 times more likely than the general population.  It is blinding if left untreated.

Get an exam: The only way to find out is to have an exam by a qualified eye MD.  AAO.org is very helpful.  If you have a retinal detachment, the sooner you see a specialist the better.  Time is vision.
