Many hours: I think it will work better for you to take the iron supplement 30-60 minutes prior to taking any PPI which may suppress acid production for more than 10 hours.

Rabeprazole: The usual dose is 20mgs once daily but in my opinion to treat h pylori or severe cases of gastritis it could be taken twice a day for a limited time of 2-4 weeks. Your pharmacist probably has more information on this topic.

Not sure: There have not been any controlled studies of this medication past continuous use for 12 months. If you take it for acid reflux the fda has only approved its use for 4 weeks as a short term treatment. For ulcers, treatment can be up to 16 weeks. Long term effects may include swelling in the limbs, liver damage, muscle and joint aches, thyroid dysfunction, bone fractures, and blood disorders.

Apparently not: Because Aciphex (rabeprazole) can change the acidity of the stomach contents it can effect the absorbtion of some substances including other drugs. This does not appear to be a problem with dicyclomine. In addition there are no other interactions currently reported between these medications.

No.: You can take Aciphex (rabeprazole) after you eat, when you begin to have symptoms or after the ranitidine doesn't work.

Costochondritis: In general if you are not having discomfort from costochonditis, you don't need pain medications. Having said that and knowing very little about you otherwise, the best person to ask your question is your doctor who actually knows you and your problems.

Back on meds GI eval: Hi.
By using the medication a proton pump inhibitor you decrease the aciditiy in your stomach.  This type of medication takes a week to do this.  A quick acting product such as  OTC liquid antacids decrease acid immediately.  Go back on the meds and see a GI doctor to get a scope.There are other meds for long term use.

PPIs: That medication is a PPI. We do not design PPIs to be used for long periods of time. They have side effects, rebound acidity after stopping them (preventing people from stopping them) , effects on the kidney (low magnesium), decreased absorption of foods, increased chances of osteoporosis and pneumonia, and gastric polyps. If you have had GERD for years speak to your doctor.

Should be OK.: It's generally presumed that medications like Rabeprazole are safe to use regularly in the long term.

Probably: Probably ok, although if you're taking cemetidine , rabeprazole might not help you much unless you have a stomach ulcer.
