The descending: colon is the part of your colon on the left side of your body.  I presume you mean mass in the colon.  This would imply a tumor/polyp...talk to your doc about the results.

Maybe, but..: Early stage, superficial, and pre-cancerous lesions may be amenable to endoscopic mucous resection. However, more extensive, or more deeply extending, masses will require  a wider resection to be sure it's removed more completely and safely. Getting a second opinion, or having another conversation with your care team, are good options.

Tumor : Quarantine is not necessary as long as you are not in infection contact . It does not make sense why utensils needed to be discarded,?

It is relative: It is relative. Since i don;t know where is your location- it is difficult to answer your question. Are you in us? India? To me, best center is the one close by to you where you know  your dad would get a good care and full support from his family. He would need to get treatment asap-so my suggestion is to go to see his oncologist-then he can be reffered to tertiary cancer center later on.

Chemotherapy: Chemotherapy is often not only damaging to cancer cells, but also to non-cancerous cells.  Additionally, the therapy affects cells that divide rapidly.  This unfortunately includes immune cells, so while undergoing chemotherapy you are considered to have a compromised immune system.

As a result, the precautions you listed protect you from potential infections.

Colon is a gold stan:   Pre-operative CT scanning is not routine in patients with colon tumors. While adding this test would add to the cost of care, error prevention results in cost savings and reduces the risk of litigation.The average tumor size localized by CT scan was approximately 1.4 cm larger than that properly localized by Colonoscopy. Preoperative CT scanning is a beneficial complement to colonoscopy.

Need more info: Although it can happen, spread of a colon cancer to the ovary  after her resection seems unlikely. Follow up with the cancer specialists and ob/gyn. This also could be new problem in ovary not recurrence. Testing blood levels for tumor markers and further imaging tests are called for.

Mass in the colon : The answer is yes a CT is great for seeing abdominal masses.. Can you see you miss a small mass in the colon that can be seen with a colonoscopy yes?

Not necessarily but : Other  things can cause a mass on the colon but the one  we worry about is cancer. Get a scope as soon as possible to rule that out or intervene should it be what you fear.

What's the mass?: If you have a mass of any sort, your physician has a duty to tell you what it is. If the imaging specialist can't say for certain, a biopsy is in order. Please ask your physician for clarification.
