Whitening works: Teeth are not damaged by whitening.  Actually you will feel better about yourself, smiling more.  I assume you are having regular dental care, and there are no defective restorations or gum disease in your mouth.  Strips that can be purchased at drugstores and elsewhere are the best way to start.  They contain hydrogen peroxide derivatives that bleach the stains from foods you eat and drink.

You need to see a dentist familiar with perio protect to get the prescription.

Have you tried using one of the sensitive teeth toothpastes?  Are you grinding your teeth when you sleep (and don't know you're doing it?) do you have gum infection?
