Narcotics. : Narcotics may give a false answer and show a blockage that may not be there without them. Having said that, most patients are taking some pain meds when a hida is done. So this is taken into account. Most imaging centers will want you to. Not eat for a few hours before the test

Sometimes: You may feel a little discomfort when the medication is initially injected, but then the worst discomfort comes from having to lie still for an hour.  If the dye does not get o the small intestine in that time, another medicine is often used to stimulate the gallbladder to contract.
