chronic rhinitis for 2 years. tried everything. worst symptom = thick mucus pnd. would azelastine spray be worth a go? how long to test it for?

Certainly: It is worth trying and you may also consider adding a nasal steroid to it at the same time as well. It should start working in 15 minutes but may take several days to provide optimal results.  Do note that reflux can at times lead to a sensation of PND.

skin prick test is not giving results for my chronic rhinitis but my ige is 867 and eosinophil count is 7.is this persistent rhinitis of what type ?

Allergic rhinitis: You appear to have allergic rhinitis likely to airborne allergens. As to what type, it will need allergy skin test or capige test to find out.

what kind of nasal saline spray or saline wash should someone with non-allergic chronic rhinitis use on a daily basis: there are isotonic and hypertonic types. also, can flonase be used daily long term for this or is it too harsh?

: Isotonic saline would be the best nose wash and you can use Flonase daily during your allergy season. It's not lake taking oral or injected steroids.

34 year old female non-smoker. feeling of something scratchy stuck in throat when i swallow especially after drink of water. like a stuck piece of bread in one spot. odds of throat cancer? i also suffer from chronic rhinitis. would this cause it?

: As a non-smoker, cancer of the throat is very unlikely.  Post nasal drip from sinuses is a likely possibility.  You might get a nasal spray from your pharmacy to try.  If that does not clear things up, then see you family doc or an ENT doc.

i have a deviated septum and chronic rhinitis/congestion all year long. ent told me to spray flonase corticosteroid. if i use this daily will it damage my nose or weaken my immune system? does it make anxiety disorders worse?

: Locally applied steroid nasal sprays are metabolized (used &amp; broken down) at the site of application. No amount in high enough quantity to affect your immune system is absorbed into the blood. It will also not damage your nose if used as directed. These meds are available over the counter in many forms because they have a proven safety profile over many years before OTC status was granted.

Absolutely: The majority of chronic rhinitis causes have environmental, structural or infectious components.  The key is identifying cause.  Symptoms may be transient or seasonal as well.  Trigger avoidance, proper medication and maintenance of healthy mucosa go a long way.  A physician experienced in working up different types of chronic rhinitis and a virtual consult may be just the thing to get started.

Yes: Once the cause of the chronic rhinitis is identified and a treatment plan implemented, rhinitis can be improved although likely not "cured."  an allergist or ENT physician can assist in the diagnosis and treatment options.

Lymph node: Greetings. The size of the lymph node is one parameter used to make decisions regarding treatment options. Having the size of  0.9 mm tells me that you have had a study like an ultra sound.  Stability is important over time. Non tender, mobile and no skin changes close to the node is important too. Don't smoke and have it examined by your doctor.

Target the cause: Chronic rhinitis is a common general term to describe allergic, non-allergic or mixed rhinitis.  Allergic rhinitis is most commonly due to sensitization to pollens (tree, grass or weeds), animal dander, or dust mite.  Allergy shots are particularly helpful in this case.  Non-allergic rhinitis can be due to irritants (eg perfumes, smoke), infection, structural defects etc. So, the answer depends.

Simple: Chrinic rhinitis  is inflamation of nose due to infection and/or allergy.
Chronic sinusitis is the inflamation of sinusies on both sides of the nose and the nose.
