Cold sore : Your doctor can prescribe valtrex (valacyclovir). Brief supplementation w lysine 1, 000mg orally 3x a day at the onset, can also ^ healing. * for lip: melissa officinalis or lemon balm (cream) has been shown in european studies to help expedite healing of cold sores.  Your dermatologist can also provide laser treatments.

i have a sore at the back of my mouth by my gum, is there any medication i could use?

Mouth sore: This is most likely a canker sore. Apply ice chips periodically. I have recommended bathing the sore with maalox several times a day. Other suggestions include tea bags or tea rinses. Physicians can prescribe cortisone type pastes or lidocaine topically.

i don't have any insurance and my lower gums are red and sore, i need something to get rid of this infection. what can i use?

Dental care: It is important that you see a dentist and get this infection treated ASAP. You do it need insurance to see a dentist.  If cost is an issue then go to a lower cost clinic or a dental school near by.  Your local dental society can help you find a low cost clinic.  Don't wait, it will not get better on its own.

Dentist+MD = Answer: Only through consultations with your primary care physician and your dentist will you determine the actual cause of your symptoms. There are psychiatric medications that can cause grinding of the teeth, increase pressure on the jaw during sleep, and extreme dry mouth.  These conditions can cause physical discomfort and should be addressed. Good luck.

Mouth Sore: Your lesion may be due to so many different factors... It's hard to diagnose without visualization and a medical history. If it lasts more than two weeks, see a dentist.

what can i do about sore gums due to lack of saliva? is there something over the counter i could use for it that won't effect dry mouth? no dentist is opened now. i can't figure out why i have dry mouth. no doctor or dentist could either.

Dry mouth: Closys or Biotene products may provide relief until the cause of our problem is diagnosed. Seek evaluation by a Den test with a specialty in Oral Medicine or Oral Pathology, or seek evaluation in the Oral Diagnosis Department of a Dental School. Another route of investigation is to be evaluated by a gum specialist, a Periodontist. Also look up Sjögren's syndrome.

2 weeks ago had a root canal retreatment & there was a fistula tract. i don't see the tract now but the gum feels tender when i use a water flosser..?

Call your surgeon: The "splinter" may not be that at all... It might be the edge of the socket. If so, it will need to be smoothed down. If it is a bone spicule, your dentist can easily tease it out painlessly and quickly, allowing your gums to heal that much faster. Give the office a call.
