Heart disease: Ck-mb refers to the mb fraction of creatine kinase enzyme.  Ck is present in all muscles, skeletal muscles have mostly mm fractions where as cardiac muscle in rich in mb fraction.  Elevated blood levels of ck-mb suggest damage to hear muscle and the test was used in the diagnosis of heart attacks.  It has been superseded by troponin testing.

Nephrologist: It would be prudent to consult a nephrologist.  If you have high blood pressure make sure to control it, If you have diabetes, keep blood sugar under control. Drink enough water daily so that your urine is mostly colorless.

Not all cancers: Most cancers are not detected in the blood initially.  There are a few that produce markers that allow us to screen patients for cancer with a blood test.  Prostate cancer is the most common.  There are some blood markers that are used to detect GI cancers as well as to follow patients with gyn cancers as well as breast.  Testicular cancer also has commonly used markers. Must be in context of case.

Possible infection: Bands are immature forms of neutrophils and are produced by bone marrow in higher numbers most frequently as a response to infection. Remember this is just one isolated point of information and needs to be correlated with the overall clinical scenario.

No.: One knows when one has been infected with hepatitis a, b or c (once known as non a non b) because initially there are the antigens and well as antibodies to these disorders.  Over time the antigens may decrease, but antibodies remain indicated that there had been an infection in the past. These antibodies remain for a long time although they may also decrease, but are still detectable in the tests.
