Heart disease: Ck-mb refers to the mb fraction of creatine kinase enzyme. Ck is present in all muscles, skeletal muscles have mostly mm fractions where as cardiac muscle in rich in mb fraction. Elevated blood levels of ck-mb suggest damage to hear muscle and the test was used in the diagnosis of heart attacks. It has been superseded by troponin testing.
