Your risk of developing pneumonia immediately after surgery increases if you smoke.  2 .Your risk of developing blood clots in your legs and lungs is higher if you smoke.  3. The risk of developing stomach ulcers after surgery is higher in smokers.

Two: decreases absorbtion of calories.  By re-rounting your intestine, a portion of your intestine is removed from its ability to absorb calories and only acts a a tube to carry secretions from your liver and pancreas.

Occasional the operation is reversed!

Ok if..: If you have diarrhea it is ok to take imodium (loperamide). However, try to figure out why you are having diarrhea. Make sure it is not infectious. Or not dumping syndrome.  So while it is ok to take Imodium (loperamide) after bypass surgery, you should probably talk to your surgeon to rule out other causes for your diarrhea first..
