Several reasons : Gastric bypass can help obese patients lose weight and also get rid of associated problems such as type 2 diabetes. There are several other types of procedures for weight loss, but this one works in two ways. It is restrictive and malabsorptive, meaning the stomach is smaller and also the digestive tract is shorter.
