Go to the ER: Even a small amount of meth could be dangerous for a child. After that i would've expecting a call from child protective services since the child should not have been around meth in the first place.

i dont usually smoke meth & my due date is may 18th & so that would make me about 7 and a half to 8 months pregnant, i only smoked it one day since the beginning of this month, if i stop now will it show up in my babies system?

: There may be detectable amounts and this may be determined by testing once the baby is born. This is important information to share with your OB specialist and Pediatrician. Withdrawal symptoms include hypoglycemia and jitteriness and the Pediatrician will examine the baby and assess these and other signs/symptoms. Avoid secondhand smoke exposure and please follow up with your OB specialist.

Impossible to say: depends on age and risk factors, but chest pain associated with methamphetamine use can always be cardiac in origin, and your friend needs to get checked out by her PCP or an urgent care setting. You might benefit from a few Alanon meetings to learn how to handle your own emotions about your friend, and to not enable her drug use. She needs help and I hope that she gets it soon, before more harm.

Separate issues: The mothers system may clear in a few days if tested with common urine screening. If I test baby just after the delivery their urine may also be clear. However.  I can still find evidence of exposure in baby anytime after the 1st trimester. Best not use at all or be up front with the docs. Meth can trigger premature delivery &amp; withdrawal in baby.

Meth: Sorry to hear that you are still using while you are pregnant. Showing up in drug screen is least of concerns. Worry about your baby.

Continue good work: Congratulations on working towards sobriety and away from meth.  Work closely with your OB physician about your pregnancy, ask questions about nutrition, and speak with your friends regularly for support.  Best of luck and hope the remainder of your pregnancy goes smoothly.

she has been using meth on and off her whole pregnancy ! she wants to know if she stops now if it will show in the babies system when delivered ?

If I look: If she stops, it is healthier for her &amp; the baby may actually survive the pregnancy. If mom draws attention to herself by being a known user, having drugie friends visit  or for other reasons the Child &amp; Family Services people have her on their radar she will have trouble. I can find evidence of any drug exposure in baby back to about 20 wks.If she gets clean &amp; stays clean they may not  look.
