At 21y/o not likely: However, I would consult your physician.  The most likely source is an acute or chronic bronchitis, where there should also be a lot of coughing.  If the blood in the sputum only appears after a long coughing spell it may be ruptured capillaries from the coughing itself. However, any blood in sputum is a reason to be evaluated.  Your body is sending you a clear message- STOP SMOKING. Get help!!

A bit of digging: Suggests that this might be due to superficial irritation of your tongue made worse over a night perhaps from open mouth sleep. Some tongues may have slightly unusual surface sensitivity. If you are troubled, see a Dr or ENT. Usually it is benign and may cause some dental alignment issues later on. If u are noticing bleeding for the first time, u need to get your tongue and mouth area checked by a doctor to rule out any inflammation in the area which may be bleeding from the minor friction of sucking.
