Hemoptysis.,,: Coughing blood, called hemoptysis, is a serious symptom that always requires an evaluation by a doctor. The most common cause is bronchitis but malignancy must be ruled out. If you are short of breath or coughing a lot of blood, go to the er. See your doctor asap! if you smoke, you must quit to decrease airway inflammation.
