Yes and no: Hi. No, insulin does not directly turn sugar into fat, BUT, insulin is an anabolic hormone that promotes fuel storage as glucose polymers (glycogen) in liver and muscle, and promotes excess glucose to be converted to fat for storage in adipose tissue and some others.

See below: If your fasting glucose is elevated but you are not diabetic you have about 60% of preventing progression of the process. You should lose about 10% of your body weight, more if you are overweight, exercise at least 30 minutes/day, 5 days/week and gradually increase the intensity of exercise. Blood glucose test: You should stick you finger harder as you should have to squeeze which may cause and error. Reread the instructions to see where they recommend sticking and about squeezing.

Need more info: Thick blood is not a medical term. You may need to have the blood tested to see if the person has very high protein levels or very high hemoglobin levels.
