There are certain foods and meds that need to be avoided for several days prior to the test as they can lead to false positives. Carcinoid syndrome often presents with episodes of flushing, diarrhea and wheezing.

If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD.

No worries: It is common to see blood present on the urinalysis test as part of a urinary tract infection.  The urine culture will confirm the presence of bacteria.  If the culture is negative, you GP could order further tests if you are still experiencing symptoms.

Flank pain: Most problems give themselves away by the company they keep. If the pain has been there for months &amp; is not worsening and no other symptoms, probably not dangerous. If worsening or other symptoms present, you need a good physical. Normal UA is comforting. Could be a simple pulled muscle, which can take months to resolve. Serious problems tend to worsen w/ time.
