Talk to your doctor!: Talk to your doctor! the basic answer is that you should take Buspar (buspirone) as long as directed by your doctor. Do not stop it on your own. You will need to get instructions on how to stop taking it. Originally Buspar (buspirone) was not thought to cause problems when it was taken for a short time. Sometimes it is used for long periods of time, in those cases many physicians will wean off slowly. Ask your physician.

i have been on 20 mg of prozac for 5 years i am 66 yrs old.would now like to wean off under dr. supervision will this be a problem?

May be: Prozac is relatively harmless and you could keep taking it. Trying to taper it under doctor's supervision is okay too and you should not hesitate to go back to your usual dose if you do not feel well.

i have had chronic hives for 2 years. i also drank a lot. i am weaning off alcohol and seeing no problems- but hives worse- nothing helps?

Chronic Urticaria: Studies show avoidance of stressors, alcohol, NSAIDs and your allergy trigger can all decrease chronic urticaria. Studies show levocetirizine is first line drug. Add hydroxyzine at night to sleep. See a Rheumatology expert to identify your allergy trigger with panel test if possible. You should get a NE Allergy panel. Studies show urticarial vasculitis and other DDx need to be considered.Good luck

Yes it can: It's called an antidepressant induced mania. And this may help a doctor diagnose a subclinical Bipolar disorder.

i have been on gabapentin for 3 weeks only. 900 mg per day. i am planning on weaning off of it next week. how soon after my last pill is is safe to have alchohol? i do not have a drinking problem, and haven't had a drink in months but want to be safe?

: Alcohol is a poison that never did anybody any good, ever, so stay away from it. It will destroy your brain cells, damage testicular cells that make testosterone, facilitate development of cancer in many organs, cause hepatitis, cirrhosis and pancreatitis etc. There is no safe level of alcohol intake. Quit while you are ahead.

can weaning off zyprexa (olanzapine) and adderall & stopping at the same time cause major problems with dopamine levels and brain function. if so what? day 22 off

Care is necessary: Adderall clears quickly and symptoms will likely rebound and require management. Zyprexa (olanzapine) clears slowly and requires slow taper to prevent withdrawal symptoms and need to observe for target symptom return. never had heart problems until stopped taking atenolol for hyperthyroid (levels now normal). doc didnt say to wean as took low dose for 2 weeks. now i wake almost every hour with heart rate at 145 then slows down. withdrawal? will be doing holter?

: You should see the doctor who prescribed the atenolol. If the thyroid hasn’t been normal for very long, you may need to be on the  low dose atenolol for a bit longer. It is also possible the high heart rate is unrelated to the thyroid. A holter monitor would definitely help figure out how often your heart rate increases and how high it goes.
