Aura Varies: Aura are commonly visual but can involve other senses.  Aura typically last 10-30 minutes and some patients never experience this stage of migraine.  Migraines progress through four stages - prodrome, aura, attack & postdrome.  Aura aren't the same for everyone and vary from bright flashing lights to partial vision loss. Aura typically occur before migraine but can occur concurrently with the pain.

Consult Neurology: Constant migraines or neuralgia can have significant impact on quality of life.  Consult a neurologist for the right diagnosis and optimum management.

NO: Stroke due to migraine is very rare especially when it is so infrequent  Find out what trigger factors are at work the couple of times in the year that you get

With no glasses?: As long as your vision seems normal with the glasse on, then no hurry to get in to the doctor.

They do this: they can occur on awakening.  There is really nothing unusual about this.  Auras are most commonly caused by migraines.  Occasionally and aura can be due to an underlyilng seizure disorder.  I would be curious as to what kind of visual aura you have.  (wavy lines, flashing lights, etc.).

i have non stop visual aura w/out migraine for 1 year.  mri showed i'm having lots of migraines. not always a headache. how do i stop aura?

Migraine prevention: Your MRI showed that you are having migraines?  I think in this case it is not certain you have a migraine, but let's say for the moment you do.

Perhaps some prevention of vascular migraine phenomena may help you.  This could be a blood pressure medicine like propranolol.  It has been used to prevent migraines.

are there any at home treatments for the visual aura preceding a migraine? any way to get vision back before the headache, or do i just wait it out?

Not really: The aura is your warning that a migraine is on the way.  It could be a cue to start the medication which you use to lessen the effect of the migraine.  But there is no way to stop the aura and I am sure you are hoping that something that would stop the aura, would also stop the migraine - but that is not how this works.

Migraine: This could be the beginnings of an atypical ophthalmic migraine. They are not necessarily accompanied by headaches and usually only involve eye symptoms.See your doctor and optometrist for evaluation of your eyesight and formal examination.
