Full Thickness Tear: Full Thickness Tear, also called a complete tear, splits the soft tissue into two pieces. In many cases, tendons tear off where they attach to the head of the humerus. In majority of tears an element of trauma is superimposed on an already chronic degenerative musculotendinous junction. In a full-thickness tear, there is basically a hole in the tendon. : Generally, speaking, biceps tears that are partial will stay that way, what matters most is function. General recommendation is to consult orthopedic surgeon to consider surgical repair.

Rotator cuff tear: That is just a fancy way to say you have torn your rotator cuff.  The rotator cuff is a group of four muscles that allow you to move your arm away from your body.  The good thing about your cases is a partial tear can heal, where in a complete tear the ends pull apart and the tear can not heal.  Thank you for the question.

Probably surgery: A shoulder injury in twenties male caused a tear of supraspinatus muscle, which goes over top of shoulder to top of humerus, the upper arm bone. Function of this muscle is to elevate arm in motion called abduction.  Since tear is at place that tendon of muscle attaches to shoulder musculotendinous cuff, it will likely not heal spontaneously.  Surgery to attach tendon will be required.

Pain and weakness: Pain usually on the front and outside of the shoulder. Pain often radiates down the lateral arm/deltoid. Pain is worse when reaching up and/or out. Yes: Partial thickness(articular or bursal sided)rotator cuff tears esp. In someone only 27 yrs.Old may respond to a rotator cuff strengthening program.... If pain or weakness ( or instability, possibly) worsen than arthroscopic  debridement or repair(depending on the thickness of the tear) can be performed in conjunction w/ decompression or capsular plication. See an experienced shoulder specialist.

: Even surgery may not be helpful.  These are significant tears of the shoulder rotator cuff.  Many people chose not to have surgery, and do physical therapy and muscle strengthening, and learn to live with less strength and range of motion in their shoulder. Good luck to you!

: If you mean without surgery -it takes 6-8 weeks to determine where you will land without surgery. With surgery expect 8-12 weeks to get back to your normal.
