Typically : Typically I do not prescribe steroids for children who have allergies, unless it is in conjunction with an asthma exacerbation, or the child had a pretty serious allergic reaction. If your child is suffering from seasonal allergies (itchy eyes, throat, sneezing) you can give him daily children's Claritin (loratadine) or zyrtec. On the other hand if your child has a more serious issue that calls for steroids, then 3 to 5 days should be enough to help calm down the process.
As far as the dosage, you will have to confirm with the doctor, it is based on your child's weight. Side effects should be minimal if any, you can also discuss this with his doctor.

: I am confused when I see symptoms like mood swings, depression, insomnia, personality changes referred to as steroid psychosis. To me,these are not psychotic manifestations. I've seen many patients on high dose steroids with chemotherapy &amp; never saw true psychosis develop. Oral budesonide dosing is trivial in contrast &amp; shouldn't cause much in the way of side effects.

: No. Oral corticosteroids can result in immunosuppression body wide. Inhaled steroid for asthma only affects the linings of the bronchial tubes and lung.

i took an oral liquid stimulant laxative 15 hours ago. but it didnt work. can i now use a suppository or do i have to wait. it was a sodium picosulfate based laxative so i dont know if it has interactions with a biacodyl suppository?

: You may take the suppository.
For constipation - You may take a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless. For the long term you may try to increase your intake of fiber foods. Consult this site for fiber foods.

Possibly: It is important to understand that I am is digested and absorbed after being exposed to significant amount of stomach acid to break it down hence the stomach irritation with ingestion of Ferris sulfate. There are other means of iron supplementationsuch as IV fusions.

Cultures will be needed (oral) followed by a biopsy in case cultures remain negative. Causes, other than HIV, will have also to be considered in case immunosuppression is believed to contribute to your thrush.
