Every month: With only one ovary, your ovulation will only come from that side and it should occur monthly.      Having 2 ovaries doesn't mean that you alternate from side to side each month.

i've had 3 abortions (2 optional, 1 as a result of a blighted ovum) and i donated eggs twice. i donated the second time while on the implanon implant and developed a cyst in my ovary. can this affect my fertility?

Cyst formation: can be a normal variation, without future issues for fertility. However if you form cysts often, or have other signs of polycystic ovarian syndrome, this can delay ovulation, and impede fertility.

what diet should b followed for multi cystic ovary patients?

Accepted Answer

No simple sugars: You don't want simple sugars or highly processed foods as these increase your Insulin and lead to more fat deposition. Lean protein, fresh fruits and especially vegetables. Vegetables are low in sugar, high in fiber and make you feel full without adding a lot of calories to your diet. Try to stay within your calorie range for your age. Also be active- that helps the Insulin be more effective.

Ovary pressure: Sometimes the follicle with the unfertilized egg does not break open during ovulation leading to a harmless follicular cyst. These eventually get absorbed by the body most of the time.

Repeat ultrasound: You need to stay in touch with your gyn.  If the cysts are simple of the  ultrasound and not bothering you, you can see if they are there in 6 weeks, depending on your family history.  These could be part of ovulation, endometriomas or some other type of tumor.  If you are in pain, you may want to consider surgical removal of the cyst.

There are: other reasons that you could have pain, so I would recommend having a pelvic exam to help determine whether this is gynecologic or some other cause.
