The Vitamin D2 and D3 are used by the kidneys to synthesize calcitriol , which is the active form in the body. Vitamin D3 is better utilized in the body than Vitamin D2.  Therefore it is recommended to use Vitamin D3.  Recommended daily dose varies depending on age.

You : You probably could for the calcium but should't need the extra vit d in it. If you take 2 extra strength Tums (calcium carbonate) that'll get you nearly as much calcium without the extra vit d.

Both are safe : Both are safe however some people do not convert D2 to D3 , so be sure to have your vitamin D levels checked to make sure they are rising if you take D2.  Take with meals for best absorption.
