Change antibiotic: Your doctor may need to reassess your infection through cultures and imaging. This may result in a change in antibiotics because  the  current one is not effective.

Possibly: If the infection was associated with a kidney stone and the infection was proximal to it (above) then antibiotics may not be needed.

See below: Symptoms can disappear with partial treatment. If you do not complete the course of treatment, the residual bacteria may flare up again. Partial treatment also promoted antibiotic resistance in bacteria.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

Pyelonephritis: If you have not had a longer period of treatment than it may be several days or more before the inflammation in your kidneys begins to recede and your symptoms diminish. Your prior question did not indicate how few doses you have had.  Symptomatic improvement can lag significantly behind elimination of the causative agent.

: You need to find out if you have an anatomical reason to have recurring kidney infections. You should see a urologist to evaluate your kidneys, including imaging studies to see the structure of the kidneys as well as laboratory studies to see the function of your kidneys. If there is an anatomical abnormality resulting in these infections, this may need to be corrected. Good luck!

what's the best way to treat a kidney infection from a uti?

: Kidney infection or pyelonephritis is an UPPER Urinary Tract Infection which is treated with antibiotic. We can treat with 7 day oral antibiotic in mild case. In moderate to severe case, antibiotic should be given IV in the first couple days then it can be switched to oral route. Urine culture should be done and blood culture is also indicated when admitted. Good luck.
