If you need meat/fish, cut verysmall, eat little bits and slowly. Drink lots of liquid with meal. Avoid spices, acidic foods/drinks, and extremely hot foods/liquids. Rinse with warm salt water frequently.

Angular Cheilitis: Angular Stomatitis or Chelitis describe inflammation and infection of the corners of the mouth. It is caused when excess saliva builds up at the corners of the mouth and dries, causing an initial irritation. Further licking of the lips worsens the problem and fungal infections can easily take hold. Talk to a Dr about a topical antifungal which will kill the infection and allow the area to heal.

Common problem: If your daughter has reached the point she is not taking enough fluids to wet every 6 hours it is time to have her  evaluated. This could be a simple virus or strep, but dehydration would be my first worry. Chilled fluids, frozen apple sauce, popsicle pieces, etc can often help with the dry or sore mouth or throat but watch the hydration.
