Peroxide…: Can be irritating to tissues. Try diluting it with warm salt water &/or mouthwash. If pain persists, see fp or dentist for exam & treatment.

What can be done for a sore in the mouth?

Dr. Martin Raff answered

Probably little: Generally these small ulcers are painful and we do not know the cause, but they clear up in about a week. On the other hand they may be due to herpes simplex virus, syphilis can produce mouth ulcers, as can coxsackie virus. Without seeing it and having more information the best advice is that if it persists, have it seen by your primary care doctor.

Dark red sore: You did not mention the duration of the lesion or if there was any trauma associated with the lesion etc. You should visit your dentist for an evaluation and anticipate the possibility of being referred to a pathologist.
