what is the definition or description of: sensitivity to medication?

A few answers: Firstly a "sensitivity" can be understood as an allergy This can be not only to the drug itself but other ingredients added to the drug to make tablets, capsules,etc.  Sensitivity can also be related to an individuals over reaction to a drug's effects. This can be due to a difference in elimination,, metabolism or your genetic makeup in general.

in the past 7 or 8 months, i went from dripping when aroused or during sex to complete dryness and decreased sensitivity of erogenous zones. there has been no significant medication change. i did however start living with my partner. is this medical?

: It is less likely a physical (medical) problem but more of a psychological issue. If problem persists, a visit for both to a sex therapist may be helpful. Good luck!

: Avoid trying to treat yourself, unless you wish further persistence of your symptoms.  Instead, see a neurologist.  You almost certainly have developed Chronic Daily Migraines, and taking "pain pills" will exacerbate this profoundly.

why would someone all of sudden develop sensitivity/allergy to multiple different medications or environmental stimuli that were not allergens previously? what could be the underlying condition that causes this?

: You're correct in looking for factors other than allergies to explain intolerance s to multiple meds. I always looked askance when a patient came in with a long list of allergies to medications. In reality it just doesn't occur. Intolerances to multiple meds are another matter. I ask for a description of the symptoms. If they're nondescript,fear from previous truly allergic reactions are possible

can the medication topamax (topiramate) cause palinopsia? i'm on it  for frequent migraines and have started noticing trailing in vision and sensitivity to light.

See eye doctor.: I do not think that palinopsia or having trailing images, as a specific complaint, is listed as a known complication.  This medication, however excellent, has been known to cause significant eye problems that can be irreversible.  Such things as narrow angle glaucoma can also occur.  I would ask for the pressure in your eyes to be checked now and see your eye doctor ASAP.

i have teeth sensitivity and teeth pain. i'm a long term user of steroids and on bp medications as well. will that cause teeth sensitivity? when i consulted a dentist, he said my teeth is fine and suggested a flouride tooth paste. what i have to do n?

: As long as you do not have carious lesions or periodontal issues the concentrated fluoride toothpaste should help. If not, fluoride trays can be fabricated that you can fill with concentrated gel which can be worn an hour or so per day until the sensitivity is resolved.

No: No, it just replaces the hormone that your thyroid normally makes.

Which one?: Are you taking thyroid replacement hormone? Anti thyroid medication?  If you are having issues with your medication, you need to talk to your prescribing doctor.  Proper med and proper dosing are generally well tolerated.

Headache &amp; Sounds: Phonophobia is the condition whereby headache sufferers, especially those with migraines, have their pain worsened with noise.  The exact mechanism is not well understood, but suffice it to say the condition is quite common in such individuals.  Therapy is often directed at management of the headache, not the perception of sound.  Once the type of headache is diagnosed, the best med can be found.

hi, i have itchy skin, which i feel i have been struggling with skin sensitivity most of my life. what oral medications can i take to address the subject? thank you?

: In order to suggest an oral medication, you first need to find out why your skin is itchy. For example, if your skin is itchy from dryness, there is no oral medication that would be needed-moisturizing lotion would be used. So, you should see a skin doctor to diagnose your itchy skin and then a treatment can be prescribed. An allergic condition could be treated with an antihistamine. Good luck!
