Anti-depressants prolong the action of serotonin(sri's) and sometimes norepinephrine (nri's) in your body  or both (snri's). They help alleviate depression, anxiety, ocd, a chronic pain(cymbalta).

Command halluc.: If you have thoughts or voices telling you what to do, this could be command hallucinations.  It would be a psychotic symptom.  In schizoaffective disorder, the person has both mood cycles like bipolar, plus ongoing psychotic symptoms like delusions, paranoia, hallucinations, etc.  It can sometimes be a difficult diagnosis to make because the person might appear differently form one time to next.

Roughly: Psychotic symptoms: hallucinations and or delusions with or without odd behavior r present.  Psychosis.Refers to loss of contact with reality. Depression refers to a mood disorder lkie feeling down, useless hopeless and other characteristic signs like sleep and appetite disturbances for 2 weeks at least. Rarely, depression if severe may include psychotic symptoms.

Symptoms.: "regular depression" is major depression without psychosis.  Psychotic depression is major depression with psychosis.  Both of these illnesses are disturbances of mood and the mood symptoms predated the psychotic symptoms.  Schizophrenia is a thought disorder which may have some mood symptoms, but the psychotic symptoms precede the mood symptoms.  Still pretty confusing, yes?

can abilify (aripiprazole) cause tardive dyskinesia just like other anti psychotics? what is the likelyhood to get it? please explain. thanks

Yes: The short answer is yes.  The incidence if tardive dyskinesia with any of the atypical antipsychotics is not yet known. TD usually occurs after consistent use over many years due to persistent blockade of dopamine receptors in the motor cortex. Abilify (aripiprazole) is a dopamine agonist/antagonist. Up to 10 mg it increases dopamine activity and only at 30 mg persistently blocks dopamine receptors
