Roughly: Psychotic symptoms: hallucinations and or delusions with or without odd behavior r present. Psychosis.Refers to loss of contact with reality. Depression refers to a mood disorder lkie feeling down, useless hopeless and other characteristic signs like sleep and appetite disturbances for 2 weeks at least. Rarely, depression if severe may include psychotic symptoms.

Dep./Psy.: Psychosis is a thought disorder. Depression is a mood disorder. Person can have both, if diagnosis is major depression with psychotic features.
