i had surgery june 17th, 2019 for a torn acl and torn meniscus.  my acl was repaired by allograft and the meniscus was trimmed out.  my flexion is 50 at 3 weeks post op.  do i push harder through the stiffness or let it happen eventually?

Work with PT: Figure at least 6-8 weeks of ongoing physical therapy and then transition to a gym and trainer.

5 wks into recovery of acl/meniscus tear surgery, i am still taking pain medicine.  is this normal?

Common, but: It's good that you are thinking ahead about how to handle long-term pain control w/out risk of addiction and other medical damage from over-use of opiates, etc. Discuss plans for pain management w/ the surgeon and/or your PCP. Consider your own search if they seem less helpful than you'd hope. Health psychologists can teach hypnosis and other techniques. Other possibilities too.

i had meniscus/acl repair surgery 8wks ago. now i hear clicking while i walk from where the meniscus tear was. the clicking is painless, but i feel throbbing in the area. is it normal? was the repair reversed during physiotherapy?

Medial meniscus tear: After repair it may need upto 4-6 weeks to get good recovery. So please continue therapy. If your range of motion stopped improving then you need to see your surgeon.

how long do you have to avoid driving after meniscus tear surgery?

Right side or left?: If it is your left knee, you can probably drive very shortly after surgery as long as you are not taking narcotic. If it is your right knee, it will be at least a week before you can drive, as it would be risky to have to hit the break too soon after surgery, and you would be a risk to yourself and everyone else on the road.

Repair vs removal: This procedure is completed arthroscopically. You may have a meniscus repair or a partial menisectomy (removal). The repair is ideal, if possible, for preventing arthritic changes, but requires a longer recovery time. In either case recovery is relatively quick; you may start ambulating as tolerated post-op with a debridement. Post-op rehab will concentrate on motion, & quad strength.

Nothing U can eat-: -but I would advise you 2 avoid NSAIDS, as the inflammatory reaction is needed 2 promote healing. It is very important 2 avoid them in fracture healing. For example, with  total joint replacements  NSAIDS R given 2 prevent calcium 2 B deposited in the peri operative field.

Repair vs debride?: A meniscus repair mandates a slower rehabilittion that allows the necessary biology of healing ot occur else the repair will fail. A meniscal debridement is more likely for most tears an affords a rapid rehabiltation with immediate advancement of motion and weight bearing to full as sson as you can tolerated both. Work (desk) is usally ok after several days to a week.
