Difficult to control: Back pain is a very common problem and can sometimes be difficult to manage.  If you have no structural defects then the best treatment is physical therapy, keeping active and sometimes anti-inflammatory medications such as nsaids and acetaminophen.  Rarely, surgery may be indicated.  Opioids may provide short term relief but are absolutely not a long term solution.

is there a recommended limit on steroid injections to ligaments to control pain? what concerns are there w/long term application?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Repeated cortisone injections into soft tissue can cause damage. I would not inject a specific area more frequently than every 2-3 months and limit the injections to a total of 3-4.

Person's or pill's?: They do have expiration dates on the pkging. They are probably good for some time past that date but not guaranteed by company. Your age is another thing. Each girl/woman is different - her doctor should help decide and will resist writing a prescription if they think it's not right for your age. Best!

my type 2 diabetes is under good control a1c 5.1, but love to eat 6 large bananas and fruits daily. how many grams of natural sugar i am limited to.?

Less than 100 gr/day: For my diabetic patients with normal weight (not overweight or obese) i usually recommend them to keep their carbohydrate intake less than 100 grams/day unless they exercise a lot.  Bananas have a high content of carbohydrates and i suggest keeping your intake to maybe 1-2/day unless your activity level is high and you are burning it.

today is 3rd day after gout attack (big toe of right foot) and 2nd day of colchicine 0.6 mg 1 tablet/day.pain is mostly under control but swelling has increased and spread to surrounding area.should i visit doctor again? how long can it take to heal?

i always feel dizzy and sleepy after eating any main meal. i eat 3 meals and 2 snacks per day. the meals are always portion controlled and healthy an does not exceed the calories limit intake but still i feel dizzy and sleepy immediately after eating?

Dizzy : Several things come to mind. Most likely you have hypoglycemia. It can be D lactic acidosis a metabolism problem. See a doctor in person

Ways to address: Anxiety.. Talk about feelings ; address problems. Don't avoid them. Aim for 7.5 - 8 hours of sleep/ night. Daily physical activity is optimal in a green space. Eat healthfully. Cut out junk carbs, caffeine ; alcohol (or  moderate).  Try qi gong, tai chi, acupuncture, acupressure, homeopathy, meditation, yoga, exercise program, deep breathing exercises or progressive muscle relaxation. Take care.

In controlled....: Studies, lysine does not modify the course of herpes simplex.

concerning my biometrics. i  take medication to help with my cholesterol. my question is once my cholesterol is lowered and is under control will l still have to take medication ?

Yes: The numbers will not stay normal if not taking and studies showed that statins are beneficial regardless of their effect on cholesterol level. Confirm with your prescribing doc goals for your treatment.
