See below.: Look at what triggers your over-eating. Sometimes we eat when we're stressed. Get yourself into a counseling to help you deal with overeating and help build up awareness of triggers. If you do over eat or eat the food you were not supposed to eat,  learn from the experience, and move on to work on your issues. Good luck!

Are you drinking: Often? Getting into fights? Behaving in embarrassing ways when u drink? Having trouble getting up 4 work the next day? Forgetting what happened the next day? Feeling hung over? If some of these things are happening, feeling guilty is a good thing which will help u assess whether u have a problem with alcohol. The fact that u r asking seems 2 indicate that u may  want 2 consider talking 2atherapist.

U can go 2 an er, call a hotline (samaritans or other hotlines 4  people with depression) or call a local mental health clinic. Tell them i are guilt ridden and feeling suicidal and they will help u sort things out. Holidays can b difficult times for people who ate feeling depressed. In my experience: this happens when you do something appropriate and are made to feel otherwise, like being assertive and speaking up for yourself and then being accused of being insolent, brash or disrespectful.   There are bigger version of this, like survivor's guilt.   Catholics are good at instilling guilt, like when using birth control.   Atheists would say this is inappropriate.   This can be a value issue.

Guilt: Your guilt regarding food needs to be understood as it appears you have conditioned yourself to be extremely critical of your self and your relationship to food. Ask for a referral to an eating disorder specialist who can help you develop a more balanced attitude toward food and toward yourself. Best.

Shame and death: We feel what we feel. There is always a reason for what we feel. In general death should not produce guilt. When it does it should be explored. For me death will always produce shame as for me shame is simply the loss of something. It might be said that when issues are unresolved and death occures then shame will be stronger as we know we cannot go back and fix things.
