Not necessarily: The respiratory rate is likely to be higher when you have low blood oxygen level however that is if the brain and the nervous system is working normally. It is possible to have slow rate and bad oxygen level with certain drugs or with brain damage.

92 % plus....: In all patients, but certainly in post op patients, we'd like to see oxygen saturation of at least 92%. Supplemental oxygen may be necessary, at least for a short time. Good pulmonary toilet and breathing exercises are also employed. Good luck.

Shortness of breath: ...Is caused by many abnormalities in the body, not simply low o2 levels.    Some patients can have significant shortness of breath from copd, pneumonia, asthma and other illnesses without a low o2 level.  If you continue to have trouble, you should see a doctor for evaluation to figure out why this is happening.

Yes: Your oxygen levels may be spurious - they are false - or you may not be using the oxygen once delivered to your cells.  Either way, you need to see your doctor, and explain fully what you are experiencing.

Smoking and Oxygen: Yes. But the test is deceptive.  It does not mean you do not have lung damage. It does not measure how much carbon dioxide you have or how many of your red blood cells are no longer available to carry oxygen. It just tells me that you are still young enough that you have some ability to maintain good oxygen levels despite the  nineteen years of trying to damage your lungs.

Heart disease: Good blood oxygen levels indicate adequate lung, chart and blood function to achieve those levels. Abnormalities of the heart are possible within this statement.

: Not necessarily. Having blood clots in leg or pelvic veins would not affect your oxygen level.

Yes: Oxygen measured by pulse oximetry is usually an accurate measure of your oxygen levels in the blood barring few exceptions. In healthy persons, it is also good measure of how much oxygen your brain is getting.
