Yes: Low-dose aspirin use irreversibly blocks the formation of thromboxane A2 in platelets, producing an inhibitory effect on platelet aggregation during the lifetime of the affected platelet (8–9 days).  This acts to thin the blood by not allowing platelets to clump together.

can you take naproxen 500mg then take either tylenol (acetaminophen) or aspirin for break through pain.  are this meds ok to take with elevated liver functions?

Yes and no: Aspirin (except for low dose, cardioprotective doses) should not be taken with naproxen. They share similar mechanisms and their toxicities are additive. Tylenol (acetaminophen) (not exceeding 4, 000 mg/24 hours) is okay. The combination if prolonged can affect kidney function.  An overdose of tylenol (acetaminophen) causes liver failure. For severe pain, seek medical attn for reversible causes and/or stronger relief.

aspirin helps my chest pain a lot. does this mean i have heart disease? i am 26 with a history of cocaine, ecstacy and smoking. it seems to improve my pulmonary function too.

Doctor can evaluate: Drug abuse, chest pressure, or chest pain are signs that one should talk with his doctor (or go to the ER if symptoms are worrisome).  In adults (less likely in very young adults), chest pain can be due to a heart attack or heart disease. If it turns out not to be heart disease symptoms, one's doctor will also have checked for problems such as a lung issues and rib cage issues.

why is it that aspirin can prevent blood clots in arteries but not in veins? if it inhibits platelet function, why does it not do that everywhere?

It does: It does inhibit platelet function.  It does inhibit clot formation in veins. Its just that venous clots aren't quite as serious an issue.  We worry about clots in the arteries to your heart that can lead to heart attack or an artery to your extremity leading to cold leg or arm.  People do get clots in their veins, they are called DVTs but they usually aren't fatal.

i have been on 325 mg aspirin daily for almost two years. my eosinophils have slowly been rising (now 1,300 ) & make up 15% of wbcs. hives, allergy symptoms , abnormal liver/kidney functioning. is this dress syndrome ? ext steps ? switch 2 plavix?

: You need to tell us more about your use of Aspirin and what is the reason behind its use ?necessary.
With a high Eosinophil count, drug allergy becomes a serious consideration.
You need to see an allergist and also consider stopping Aspirin unless there is a good reason to be on a blood thinner(?)

i am in ticagrelor, aspirin, apixaban, rusovastatin and bisoprolol. recently got a gout attack in my toe. can i take low dose colchicine? is tart cherry juice safe? i have mi 15 days ago with stenting of lad. heart function normal?

: There is a major interaction between colchicine &amp; rusovastatin but it is not an absolute contraindication if you do not have kidney disease &amp; take low dose of colchicine. If widespread muscle pain occurs when taking colchicine, stop it immediately. If you take colchicine, do not take the tart cherry juice. Your bleeding risk is too high with ticagrelor, ASA &amp; apixaban combination, be careful.

i have taken 81 mg aspirin for 8 years for blood clot prevention for brain avm. but i'm on lithium and a doctor said switch to fish oil to improve kidney function. he said fish oil is preferred treatment. can i switch? what's best dosage of fish oil?

I would not: Aspirin is an antiplatelet agent and for many of us is the treatment for blood clot prevention with your condition, As long as there’s no content Acacian to taking the aspirin.
