Lymph nodes: Increased size of the lymphatic  structures which  filter  lymph &amp; form lymphocytes . This can occur in response to inflammation or infection.  In this case lymph nodes in the neck are involved.

Simple: Usually just a blood test CBC with differential. If more complicated, your doctor may order chest x ray, liver spleen scan or refer you to have a lymph node biopsy.

Upper respiratory: Sinusitis doesn't cause neck or chest symptoms, but an associated viral infection of the throat and tracheobronchial tubes can. If symptoms persist more than a week, appropriate antibiotic treatment should then result in improvement.as bacterial infection often follows when symptoms last longer than 7-10 days.

Pain: Can be from viral/bacterial/fungal infection, infected tooth or gums, neoplasm, TMJ, cardiac issues, muscle strain, and many other causes. Infection, however, would be the first thing I would look for. Please see your Dentist or Physician to begin the diagnostic process.

Sarcoidosis: Neck node enlargement from sarcoid is rare and if it is there, you can feel it. See an ENT doctor to r/o sacoidosis in your nose.

hey, ive been told that i have normal lymph nodes in my neck. does this mean that my lymph nodes are not swollen and feelable due to me being slim? or does it mean that there enlarged and just normal? thanks?

: It means they are normal.  They can be felt in many healthy people by good node feelers.  I would appear that you are in that category.   See if you can feel them in other normals would be my advice. Ask permission to feel them first however.

hey, is it normal for me to be able to feel my lymph nodes around my groin and at the sides of my neck when there not enlarged? i am quite slim and i'm also 16. but if it is normal for me to be able to feel them how do i know when they are enlarged?

: Lymph nodes are normal structures that usually measure ~1 cm or so in length and are found within fatty layers next to muscles. The thinner you are the more likely they would be found. Areas like the neck or head which have no fat layers will have obvious nodes. When stimulated they grow to olive size or bigger.

Get checked: If lymph nodes are enlarged for no apparent reason, and remain that way for any significant duration of time, are hard to the touch, are quite tender, increase in number, or are accompanied by other symptoms it might be a good idea to have a professional examine you.

7 y.o has lymph nodes to back of neck, enlarged since age 2. doesn't hurt, not red, moves under skin. child is thin but no wt. loss. need work up?

Needs follow up.: Cervical lymph nodes (in the neck) are common in children.  They can persist for very long periods of time.  Most important is that your pediatrician knows about them and re-examines them periodically (remind him or her from time to time).  They can be removed surgically or biopsied but this is not usually necessary.
