Hey, is it normal for me to be able to feel my lymph nodes around my groin and at the sides of my neck when there not enlarged? i am quite slim and i'm also 16. but if it is normal for me to be able to feel them how do i know when they are enlarged?

Lymph nodes are normal structures that usually measure ~1 cm or so in length and are found within fatty layers next to muscles. The thinner you are the more likely they would be found. Areas like the neck or head which have no fat layers will have obvious nodes. When stimulated they grow to olive size or bigger.

Agree with Dr. Ferguson. You may feel the nodes every couple of weeks, if any of the lymph glands doubles in size, becomes painful, ulcerates, or other nodes become enlarged, or you develop fever, or lose weight, you should see a doctor. Wish you good health!
