i routinely have high urea nitrogen and bun/creatinine ratio blood test results. this combined with frequent peeing at night and puffy hands/face in the morning and occasionally during the day make me wonder if i have a kidney problem. ?

Maybe yes...: ...but the answer depends on the numbers. Certainly these symptoms could go along with significantly abnormal kidney function, but it's the actual BUN and creatinine numbers that tell the story. Ask another question that includes those lab test results, as well as calculated creatinine clearance, if that was reported with the creatinine result. Or just ask your doctor.

Kidney and Liver T: Egfr (normal >60), creatinine, bun/cr ratio are all lab values to suggest how the kidney function is, ast is an enzyme secreted by the liver, if its elevated there is something wrong with the liver (it varies from mild to severe). Check with your doctor or mentor about the normal values and the abnormal ones.

I don't think so: With a BUN of 8, anybody worried about their kidneys should be very happy. The lack of real science behind the "EGFR" promotion is showcased by the adjustment for race "because black people are more muscular." Many of us in pathology think this is an attempt by Big Pharma to make healthy people think they are sick. I'd be glad for good health. Creatine's fine for your age. Best wishes.

i am 49  year old male in good general .  a recent blood test showed bun level at 27 and creatinine level at 1.4. should i be concerned? what are possible causes?

Needs work up: The cr is high, there are many causes and you need further work up, the most common causes are prolonged diabetes and high blood pressure. Make sure that you get follow up with your physician.

i recently had a blood test that shows a bun of 7 and creatinine 0.45. i was wondering why is my creatinine lower than normal. does that mean there is a problem?

: Creatinine is a function of how much your muscles produce and your kidneys excrete.  So either you do not have much muscle or you have extra good kidneys.  Or it was a lab error.  Always send your labs normal range for people like you: age, gender, ethnicity etc. discuss with your Dr who knows you and your lab better than we do.

Need more info: Creatinine level in blood depends on the kidney function, but also on the  amount of protein intake and muscle mass and activity that you have. 
You need a glomerular filtration test for a better evaluation of your kidney function.

Bun/cr ratio. : High bun/cr ratio means that your child needs to drink more water. So it really doesn't mean anything serious

i recently had some blood test done..creatinine came back as 1.6, bun is 19, glucose on the high side.....all other measurements are witin the range except for anion gap.  anion gap is 13, slightly above range.  what does this all mean?

Hard to say: Without knowing your past medical history and past testing.  But from what you mention your testing suggest some element of kidney dysfunction.  It's not clear if it's chronic or acute.  But you should reach out to your doctor if you have questions too. He/she will know you vest to be able to give you the most accurate description of what's going on.
