Mostly not an issue: The only problem with a broad nasal bridge is the style of eyeglasses needed for which this bridge can provide support.  If the broad bridge is in harmony with your overall face, it can be quite appealing.

i have a 1 month baby born with a prominent broad nasal bridge. is there something to be done at this age for this craniofacial abnormality?

Not likely: So much can change yet that most plastic surgeons, even if they are used to working with kids, would not even consider working on this at this age. If it's not impairing function in any way, they won't do any type of surgery until the baby is at least 6 months, and more likely not until after 1 year of age. I recommend you take the same picture of the baby weekly so you can show the progression.

: These are physically different terms used by those who study "dysmorphology" or the variations in the physical features. Flat mid face is based on the silhouette of the face from the side- the mid face (nose) doesn't come out as far. The philtrum is the structure between the nose &amp; upper lip. It can be tall/average/short and can have tall ridges or short. Micro=small, retro=positioned to the back

Hard to say: Each of the features mentioned are part of many overlapping syndromes. A visit to a clinical geneticist (found at medical schools or children's hospitals) would be a way to sort this out. Some pediatricians have experience with these, but this is beyond what can be assessed on this site from the info provided.

Ethnic variations: Facial features vary from ethnic culture to ethnic culture.  As such what is considered normal in one culture may not be viewed the same in another.  If you have concerns about a depressed nasal bridge, you should consult with a facial surgeon or plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns and to find out what options you have for treatment.

Common: Most children in this age group have wide nasal bridge and wide nose. This is because the nasal bone develops well after birth and the nose gets to its normal shape later. This is one of the reasons why some children look cross eyed even tho they are normal.

No: Once removed nose bone and cartilage does not regrow.

Could be scar: I would ask your surgeon it may represent scar formation or just swelling that will resolve. If it is scar tissue pressure or an injection may help i would seek the advice of your surgeon.

i have a bony prominence on my nasal bridge.. it has always been there. sometimes when i get headache i feel it orginates from this lump. wt shld i do?

If your: nose was not broken in the past the bony protuberance probably has NO clinical significance...you might consider visiting a Board Certified Plastic/or Ear Nose Throat surgeon for an opinion..
